Jose de Padilla and his wife, MarÃa López, not being refugees from theKingdom of New Mexico, remained at Guadalupe del Paso instead of comingup with the Vargas reconquest. He was still living there, at Senscu, in1699. {DM, 1699, No. 9} From the marriages of their children, we learnthat his wife was dead by 1711, while Jose himself died less than twoyears later. (DM, 1711, No. 4: DM 1713, No. 1] His known sons wereJose, Diego, and most likely, Juan Antonio.
