    • Obituary (Logan Observer)
Olive Godden was born in Boonesboro, Boone county, Iowa, February 28, 1858. She died at the Jennie Edmundson hospital in Council Bluffs, November 16th, at the age of 71 years, 8 months, 18 days.
She was married to Elias Godden January 2, 1876, and to this union nine children were born - George and Ernest, of Logan; Charles of Pisgah; John, of Steele City, Nebraska; Frank, of Hall's Summit, Kansas; Will of Chadron, Nebraska; Mrs. Ernest Mills, of North Platte, Nebraska; Mrs. Edd Chappell, of Logan; and Robert, who died in infancy. Twenty-nine grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren are also left of the immediate family. After her marriage she lived in Harrison county a short time, then moved to Lincoln county, Kansas, where they lived for six years. Returning to Harrison county she spent the remaining years on the farm near Logan until the death of her husband, after which she moved to Logan. Her health failed and she went to the home of her daughter, Mrs. Edd Chappell, in April.
Mrs. Godden was a member of the Christian church and always enjoyed attending church services and Sunday school. She had also long been a member of the Royal Neighbors of America.
Besides her children she leaves to mourn her departure five brothers and three sisters, also owing to her pleasant nature, a great number of friends and neighbors who will miss her.
The services were held at the Church of Christ Monday afternoon at 1:30 conducted by Rev. C.C. Davis, her pastor. Mrs. Havens and Mrs. Hook sang the beautiful old hymns which she had loved. The interment was in the Frazier cemetery.
