  From a family Bible we find: She (Mary) was paralyzed 12 years, after she struck her head on a tree limb while harvesting walnuts. - Following the accident, Mary was cared for by her grandson Charles L. Kelly at Oregon House, Yuba Co., CA, until she died. At the time, Charles was a young boy going to school, and it was after his mother and father moved to Marysville, Yuba Co., CA. - Mary received her son's (John G. Kelly's) Civil War pension, as his survivor.
