  The marriage record for Silas and Harriet states "Milleson, Sila, ward of Thomas Sloan, to Harriet Sloan, dau. of Thomas, bd. 2-19-1827. - The 1850 census finds Silas and his family living in Hampshire Co. West Virginia. The census goes on to say he was a farmer with holdings valued at $10,000. Silas was the apparent care-taker of his brother John who was unable to adequately care for himself. - 1860 census for Higginsville, Hampshire Co., WV finds a very successful Silas as a farmer age 52 with $10,000 land value anf $14,000 personal wealth he is shown with his wife Harriet age 52 and his 2 younger children; Charles M. age 18, a farmer, and Martha T. age 15.
