Abiel, Roxbury, s. of Thomas, was one of brave capt. Johnson's comp. Dec.1675, had bapt. ther e s. Harbottle, 28 Feb. 1675; Abiel, b. 23 Dec. bapt.4 Jan. 1680; Jonathan, b. 11 Nov. 1682 ; and Samuel, bapt. 12 Apr. 1685;but I kn. not his w. and suspect, that be liv. over the lin e of the town,for the town rec. has not one of these b. He rem. to Framingham, then pt.of Sud bury, a. 1695, was constable 1700, selectman 1701, and d. bef. 1710.

Abiel (Able) served in the French and Indian wars, was present at thecapture of King Philip , and as captain of artillery saw service withMontcalm and De Wolfe in Quebec. After the wa r he came to Framingham,Massachusetts, and was given land by the government, where he resided until his death. He was the first to assist in the building of the churchin that town. He wa s Orthodox in religion. He was the father of foursons--Abel, Jonathan, Samuel and Joseph--an d three daughters.
