  Alfred owned and operated the family's Ogdensburg brickyard until the Depression of the 1920's - 1930's caused it to close down. Alfred's grand daughter Shirley remembered visiting with her grandparents when she was a small child, at the brickyard. She recalled that Alfred (Fred) would capture fish for her and put them in a bath tub so she could see them swim around. Alfred and Ella raised four boys together in Ogdensburg. - 1896 Ogdensburg Directory: (Business) Brick Manufacturers Paige Brothers, rear 11 Cedar - Alfred registered for the World War I Draft in St. Lawrence Co., New York.
