      Nancy Catherine Snapp, 98, of Harrisonburg, died on Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2003, at the Sunnyside Presbyterian Retirement Community in Harrisonburg.

      She was born Nov. 7, 1905, in Elkton, Va., and was the daughter of the late Charles J. and Florence Jones Dyche.

      Mrs. Snapp grew up in Rockingham County and graduated from the Shenandoah Conservatory of Music and received her teaching certificate from Madison College. She taught elementary school in the Rockingham County School System and moved to the Washington area during World War II. She was a member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Alexandria and retired from Woodard & Lothrop Department Stores.

      She moved back to Harrisonburg in 1990 to the Highlands at Sunnyside and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church.

      She was preceded in death by two husbands, Sedrel Dixon and Sidney H. Snapp and a sister, Mildred Lough.

      Surviving are a son, Charles M. Dixon and wife, Betty, of McGaheysville, Va.; three grandchildren, Sara Dixon, Ann Dixon and husband, Erich Knight and Andrew Dixon and wife, Lori; two stepgrandchildren, Stephany Flory and Melody Dalen and husband, John; one great-grandson, Jackson Dixon; and four stepgreat-grandchilden, Kyla Roach, Seth Roach, Emma Dalen and Sara Dalen.

      Memorial services will be conducted 3 p.m. Friday at the Bethel Chapel at Sunnyside by Dr. Thomas A. Smith. The family will receive friends following the service.

      Memorial donations may be made to the Sunnyside Presbyterian Fellowship Fund, 600 University Blvd., Suite L, Harrisonburg, Va. 22801.

      Her body was cremated at the Kyger Funeral Home Crematory in Harrisonburg and burial will be private.
