  • Notes
    • Oliver was the oldest of three brothers to enlist with the Company H 16th Virginia Calvary. He enlisted in Wayne Co. WV in 1862. He was Captured at Falls of Twelve Pole WV on January 27, 1964. Sent to POW camp at Wheeling WV on Feb. 16. 1864. At age 38, He was then transferred to Ft. Delaware on March 14, 1864. He died at Ft. Delaware on Aug. 15, 1864. Not sure the cause of death, but believe it to be dysentery. All the records show was that he was buried on the shores of NJ. But I had someone tell me that it was at Finn's Pt. in NJ.

Oliver Mills, a tall man, was listed as 6 feet 3 in. tall, with dark complexion, hazel eyes and dark hair.
Burial: March 14, 1864, On the shores of NJ at Finn's Pt. NJ

      Occupation: Farmer
      -
Oliver's brothers-in law (James & John Fraley) were members of the same 16th Cavalry.
