Thelma Rasmussen Bassett Hansen, 81, died Oct. 9, 1999, at the Sunshine Terrace in Logan, Utah.

Thelma was born in Preston, Idaho, on Aug. 9, 1918, to Effie and Rasmus Rasmussen. She married Homer Bassett of Lago, Idaho, at 15, and they had seven children. They were divorced after 23 years of marriage. Homer passed away December 1989.

Thelma married Dallas A. Hansen of Grace, Idaho, Nov. 20, 1962. The marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple. Dallas passed away April 17, 1997.

Thelma was raised in Mink Creek, Idaho, and attended school in Thatcher. She was active in her church and held several positions over the years. She had a great love of genealogy and spent many years searching her ancestral line. In her early years of marriage, she worked at Hill Air Force Base and sold cosmetics for House of Stuart. She educated herself through her love of reading.

Thelma was a strong and determined woman. She raised her children with an iron hand but a loving heart. Her wonderful sense of humor paved the road of hardship and softened the blows of disappointment in her life. She was a survivor.

We will miss her with all our hearts!

Thelma is survived by two brothers, Ed Seal (Helen) of Hailey, Idaho, and Clem Rasmussen (Alba) of Grace, Idaho; a son, Evan Bassett of Salt Lake City; three daughters, Ruthann Anderson (Russell) of Logan, Eileen Shurtleff (Kim) of Logan and Wendy Albrecht (Max) of Richfield, Utah; two stepsons, Fred Hansen of Claremore, Okla., and Dwight Hansen (Diane) of Vacaville, Calif., one stepdaughter, JeNene Bull (Dwayne) of Claremore, as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Thelma was preceded in death by two husbands; two infant sons, Stuart and Sidney; a daughter, Sharon Williams; and son-in-law Thomas Williams; two grandsons, Casey Killam and Michael Anderson; a great-grandson Louie Hernandez; a stepson Dallas Hansen, two sons-in-law Kenneth Killam and Kyle Watson; and numerous brothers and sisters.

      She had 26 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 E. Center St. in Logan. A viewing will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 12, at the mortuary. The funeral service will be at noon on Wednesday, Oct. 13, at the mortuary. Friends and family may also call one hour prior to the funeral. Burial will be in the Logan Cemetery immediately following the service.
