• Notes

  Edmund Lockwood was apparently brought up by his uncle Robert Lockwood and probably came with him to CT about 1646. Edmund already owned land at Stamford before 8 Mar. 1650, the first mention of him in Stamford town meeting records. He is mentioned continuously subsequently, in deeds, as fence viewer, "pounder" and as a member of the surveying committees. He and his son John were on the 1687 list of proprietors. The inventory of his estate was taken 28 Feb. 1692/3 by Jonathan Bell , Sr. and Abraham Ambler. Administration was granted to the son Joseph Lockwood and to Jonas Weed, but the latter declined to act and Abraham Ambler, Sr. was appointed in his place.
