  • Notes
    • Captain Robert Cravens was likely a son of Joseph Cravens of Lewes Town, Delaware, who in turn was likely the son of the immigrant Richard Cravens who came to New Jersey in 1690.

Robert and Mary (Harrison) Cravens were among the earliest settlers in Harrisonburg, Virginia (named for her family).

Robert was commissioned a Gentleman Justice for the Court of Augusta Co.,VA.

He was twice appointed Land Appraiser and overseer of roads and surveyor of Augusta Co., Virginia.

Robert died while the French and Indian war was raging in the colonies, but not of wounds.

Two of Robert & Mary's boys fought in the Revolution. Mary provisioned the Continental Army after Roberts death.

Robert's will apportioned several hundred acres and many slaves to his wife and 9 children.
