Notes - Shortly after his 17th birthday Samuel and Isabel were married in Swanzey, New Hampshire.

Samuel bought land in Thetford, Orange County, Vermont about 6 years later. First on September 16, 1794, then October 1, 1794 and finally on July 10, 1796 next to his brother Abraham & his wife Charlotte. Samuel's brother Ephraim had a daughter that married into a Thetford family.

Samuel's family moved to the Canton, St. Lawrence Co., New York area and he was shown as living in Canton near his son Asa and half brother Isaac, in the 1830 Census. The census was recorded as follows;

Samuel died of consumption, January 31, 1846 (ae 74 yrs 7 mos 21 days) and was buried at Brick Chapel Cemetery, Canton, New York. His obituary, printed on Feb. 10, 1846 by the "St. Lawrence Co., Newspaper" stated that he was a native of New Hampshire and that he had resided in St. Lawrence Co. for the last 28 years. This statement indicates the family probably moved to St. Lawrence Co., New York in about 1818.
