- The 1900 census finds Carlton as a child living with his widowed father and Carlton's grandparents in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. At that time his Father and grandfather were employed in the stocking manufacturing trade.

In the 1920 census we find Carlton and his wife Alice living in Hyattsville, Maryland were he was employed as a tire salesman.
Later verbal accounts indicate Carlton was a Taxi Cab Driver.

On Friday June 16, 1961, CHARLETON TANEY JONES of 8801 63rd. ave., Berwyn Heights, Md., beloved husband of Alice S. Jones and father of Charleton Taney Jones Jr. and brother of Howard L. Jones.
Mr. Jones rests at Gasch's Funeral Home, 4739 Baltimore ave., Hyattsville, Md.
Services at Ft. Lincoln Cemetery Chapel on Monday, June 19, at 2:30 p.m. Relatives and friends invited. Interment private. Friends may call after 9:00 a.m., Sunday.
