    He would travel to many places, including; Paris, France, London, England, and New Orleans to buy new stock to breed and trade.
    He worked at the Maple Point stock farms and dealt with the Norman and Percheron breeds, among others.
    He is writen about in various periodicals and trade journals, including; The Rice County Journal, The American Breeder, and Breeder's Gazette.
    He was involved in the judging of fine horses, and his horses won several prizes at various fairs and other events.

    There was a catalogue published by the title:
    Maple Point stud of Percheon horses imported and bred by Leonard Johnson, East Castle Rock, Dakota co., Minnesota: Catalogue for 1887-1890.

    Leonard's obituary was printed May 14, 1898.
    Althea's appeared February 16, 1907.
