On Nov 12, 1735, John received a 300 acre patent on the Opequon Creek near town of Middleway now Jefferson Co., W. Va. John was a resident of Rowan Co., NC before the Indian Wars 1755. He returned to Virginia in on 1 Sep., 1764 and purchased land of Thomas & Elizabeth Green. He was briefly a resident of Monocracy, Prince Geoges Co., Maryland John's will was written in Oct. 1764 and was probated on 4, Dec., 1764.

John Hiatt (son of John from Eng) who d. 1764, Frederick Co., Va (page 242, Will Book 3, Courthouse, Winchester, is said to have married (1) 1722 Rachel Wilson. They had 15 children, among them, Evan, who married Sarah Smith."

John married THOMAS, Margaret 12/12 Feb 1743/1744. Margaret (daughter of THOMAS, Evan and ROSS, Albanah) was born Between 1720 and 1722; died Bef 1810, Hampshire County, West Virginia. [Group Sheet]

1st husband was Edwards, 3rd husband James Largent according to Frederick Co., Va. court records. Information from Patricia Caudy of Portland, Ore. presents that Margaret Stevens "Post". April 1991, letter from Dr. Wilmer Kerns disclosed that in his new book "Historical Records of Old Frederick and Hampshire Co., Va." Margaret married a Mr. James Largent, born circa 1716, son of immigrant John Largent I, born abt 1690 -1738). Researchers and historyians have confused him with a James Largent, who lived at the Forks of Capon, Hampshire Co. According to church records, Kerns said, James Largent of the Forks of Capon was born Sept. 1, 1753, and his parents were John and Elizabeth Largent II (1720 -1806). There is a great deal more concerning the Largent and related families in the forementioned book by Dr. Kerns. Letter from Michael H. Charles. Margaret Stephens was the daughter of Evan Stephens Jr., His wife's names is unknow, but he was the sonof Evan Stephens Sr., born in Wales probably in the mid-1600's, came to Radnor, Pennsylvania, area about 1683. His wife's name was Elizabeth. He died 14 Aug 1706 in Pennsylvania. His issue: (at least) 1. John 2. Phebe 3. David 4. Stephen 5. Evan Jr., born about 1695 The sources quoted for this are are follows: Hinshaw's Quaker Encyclopedia 2:448 Penn. Archives, Serices 3, 20:508 Now and Long Ago, page 301 form a chapter on Revolutionary soldiers buried in Marion Co., W. Va. Early Settlement of Friends at New Garden, N.C.

John "of the Hampshire and colony of Virginia" (as he was called in his Will).
He came from Lancaster Co., Pennsylvania and purchased land on April 17, 1737, on Opecquon Creek and Sandy Ridge, He was among the first white settler in the region. He married Margaret and purchased 200 acres of land from Thomas and Elizabeth Green on September 4, 1764, in what was then known as Frederick Co., Virginia.

John married WILSON, Rachel Bucks, Pennsylvania, Unites States. Rachel (daughter of WILSON, Thomas and Rachel) was born 28/28 Feb 1697/1698, Kendal, Westmoreland, England; died 1746, Frederick County, Virginia. [Group Sheet]
