Notes:

Abraham was the Captain of Piney Creek Hundred Militia during the Revolutionary War. He was also Constable of Piney Creek Hundred, PA.

On 4 April 1760, Abraham Hayter bought 1003 acres of a tract called "Brooks Discovery on the Rich Lands" for 250 pounds current money. This tract lay in Frederick County, now Carroll County, MD between Taneytown and the Monocacy River, north of the present Taneytown-Emmitsburg Road and south of the Mason-Dixon Line. Over the next decade, Hayter bought andsold a considerable a mount of land in the area, breaking up large tracts and selling the minimum family-size farms . It is believed that Abraham's real estate partner, Andrew Parks, may have been his brother-in -law (supposing that Parks's wife Rachell was Susannah's sister). In a deed of 18, November 1786, both Hayter & Parks are listed as being of Virginia. Hayter was popular with the German immigrants of Maryland in the 1760s because he could speak their language. They petitioned the court to appoint him justice of the peace. In 1771, he gave two acres of land to be used as the site of the Piney Creek Presbyterian Church. It is believed that the Hayter family originates in Northern England, then moves to Northern Ireland, then settles along the Delaware River, moving down to southeast Pennsylvania to Frederick County, MD. Abraham gave to his son, Abraham Jr, 313 acres on Woolf Creek under the stipulation that if any salt were mined on that land during the elder Abraham Hayter's life time, he was to receive the 10th bushell. (Dated: 20 March 1798).

Abraham married DARROCK, Susannah Abt 1753, High On A .. Windy Hill, Washington County, Virginia. Susannah (daughter of DARROCK, Thomas and MARY) was born 1728, Probably Horsham Township, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania; died 2 Feb 1809, Hayters Gap, Washington County, Virginia. [Group Sheet]

Abraham married Martha 5 Apr 1734, Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania. Martha was born Abt 1713, Of Plumstead, Bucks County, Pennsylvania; died 18 Jul 1769, Plumstead, Bucks County, Pennsylvania. [Group Sheet]

Notes:

Martha Rankins was her married name. She had at least one son from that previous marriage. His name was James Rankins and he was the administrator of her will, which is located in the Spruance Library in Doylestown, Pennsylvania.

Martha died July 18, 1769 in Plumstead, Bucks County, Pennsylvania. She possibly was born about 1700 in Plumstead.
