    -
Daniel was born in New York as was his wife Polly. The 1850 census shows that their 3 oldest children were also born there. This fact implies a move date to Pennsylvania of between 1836-1838 as Harry and Sally were born there.
    -
Daniel was shown farming in Greenfield Township, Erie Co., Pennsylvania in the 1840 census (Page: 201).

It was stated in the pension papers that Sally had died, Desiree had gone west and Daniel did not know the whereabouts of his son Charles. -
Jabez served in The War of 1812 with The 18th Regiment (Dobbins), New York Militia.
    -
Death date (although 1 Dec 1812 is also given as death date.) Also gives information on both marriages for widow, Ruth PIXLEY. Jabez enlisted 29 Jun 1812, in Captain Josiah Morehouse's Co of Detached Militia, State of NY. Also served in Captain Caleb Herington's Co of Detached Militia, State of NY.

Ruth received half pay pension of $47.06 on 4 Jun 1817.
    -
Ruth's second marriage date from widow's pension file; Ruth and second husband living Bristol, Ontario Co, NY on 8 May 1817. Ruth signed with X. Following statement included in file: "I Abigail Simmons do solemonenly declare and sware that I saw Ruth STILWELL married to Jabesh ESGATE on 26 Mar 1799, so help me God." Signed with X. This was sworn to 18 Oct 1816 before Seth Hathaway, Justice of Peace.

Following the death of Jabish Isgate of Penfield, NY, his children Patten, Daniel, Sally and Betsey were placed under the guardianship of a Daniel Stillwater (or Stillwell).
Reference: Early Settlers of New York State, Volume II, July 1940, Subscribers Inscriptions, Settlements of Estates of Early Residents in Monroe Co., Page 393.
    -
Note: An over 45 Daniel Stillwel appears on the 1810 census near the Isgate family (Francis, William and Jabez). My hunch is he could be the father of Jabez's wife. In that census Mr. Stillwel is shown by himself.
    Other Stillwels on the 1810 Ontario Co., New York census include;
    Bishop, Elisha, and James.
    -
It is worth noting that in the reference quoted above Jabish and his children were ascribed the surname Isgate.
    -
A debt of gratitude is owed to Joan R. Fitch for the information she has posted at:

Ruth's father may have been Daniel STILLWATER/STILLWELL, who was named childrens' guardian on 16 Jul 1816.
Ruth received half pay pension of $47.06 on 4 Jun 1817.

    -
1850 CENSUS, Crockery, Ottawa, MI: 61 years, born NY. Living with spouse, Henry THOMPSON, next to Daniel and Polly ESGET and family.
1860 CENSUS, Crockery, Ottawa, MI: 71 years, born NY, dometic. Living with son, Ellis THOMPSON.
Ottawa Center Cemetery Records: Desire THOMPSON died 25 Nov 1868, 84 years.
    -
Have presumed "Desire" to be name of Francis ESGET's daughter, solely on circumstantial evidence. The name, Desire, was not only the mother's name, but has been used in succeeding generations. The Henry THOMPSON family is listed on the 1820 CENSUS, for Penfield, which is where ESGET's were living. They are shown again in 1840 in Greenfield, Erie, PA, also where ESGET's are living. And, as shown above, they are living next to Daniel ESGET (Desire's nephew) in 1850.

    Children:
    1. 5. THOMPSON, Mary Polly was born Abt 1809, New York; died 15 Oct 1857, Nunica, Michigan.
