The 1860 census shows Sidney 22 and Mary E. 18 living in Otsego, Aleegan Co., Michigan as a farmer with no children and property valued at $50. He was living close to his parents and other siblings.

Sidney was listed as a teamster in the Civil War from Otsego Township, Allegan Co., Michigan.

Sidney enlisted as a private on 08 August 1862 in Otsego, Allegan Co., Michigan, at the age of 24, in Company B, 19th Infantry Regiment, and began service on 05 September 1862. He mustered out on 10 June 1865 in Washington, DC.

Sidney's 2nd wife Ruth M. (Duncan) Brundage applied for his C.W. pension in Michigan, on August 17, 1900, about 16 days after his death.

Sidney and Mary appear in the 1870 Michigan census living in the Village of Otsego, Allegan Co., Michigan with an occupation as a dairyman with land valued at $1,000 and other property at $300. Mary is shown as being born in New York and Sidney in Vermont. Two of their children are listed in the same census but on the next page vis. Charles age 7 and Henry age 5, both attending school.

The 1840 census finds Joshua and his brothers ( William, Nathan and Harry ) living in Williston, Chittendon Co., Vermont. Joshua's father Abraham may have died by 1840 as he was not listed and is said to have lived his last days there.

The 1850 census finds Joshua (Brundridge) and his family in Hinesburg, Chittenden Co., Vermont. Shown are Joshua a farmer with $500 property, age 50, born in Vermont as were the rest of the family as follows;

Joshua and Prudy moved their family from Williston, Vermont to Illinois and then to Michigan in about 1852/53.

The 1860 census finds Joshua (Josiah) and Prudence living in Otsego, Aleegan Co., Michigan (p. 51-52). Joshua 60, was a farmer with $100 of real estate and $100 of personal property Prudence was shown as 50 (actually 54). With them were sons Noble 25, a farmer, Gilbert 20, and Alfred 16. All were born in Vermont.

From census information we know Joshua was a dairyman in Michigan. Joshua also appears on page 304 of the 1870 Allegan Co., Michigan census as a 70 year old drayman (cart driver), living in the Village of Otsego. His wife Prudy was 64, and keeping house.
Other Brundages in the same Village are Alfred (p.306), Hannah (p. 284R), Harry (p. 292R), Sydney (p. 303R) . The Alfred and Sydney are likely Joshua's sons, Harry could be his brother. Other sons Gilbert and Noble have been located in nearby Kalamazoo Co. in Cooper Township.

Joshua died in Michigan at the age of 74.

According to the "St. Lawrence Co., New York History" by Gates Curtis, 1894, Prudy the wife of Joshua Brundage was the daughter of David Barto of Vermont. Her parents also show up in the 1860 Michigan census (misspelled Barton), not far from Prudy and Joshua.

Judging by the birth date of son Charles, this marriage came none too soon.

The St. Lawrence Co. New York History by Gates Curtis, 1894, states that Abraham was a Hessian (German soldier fighting for the British army). Some have theorized that Abraham may have been a part of a German Battalion, but as a British soldier. The surname Brundage is also much more prevalent in England than in Germany. Abraham is said to have deserted the British army, which was not unusual at the time, and some families in the northeast are proud that their ancestors deserted the British cause.

Another biography "A history of the town of Williston", pg. 40, shows the following:

Stephen N. Warren came to Williston about the same time as Lemuel Bottom and settled near him. He afterwards moved to Fairfax where he died. He had eight children. Of these the youngest, Charles E. followed the trade of carpenter and joiner for some time, worked a while at the paper mills in Essex, and finally purchased a farm in Williston where he died July 30, 1888. Charles E. married Rosetta Baldwin, a granddaughter of Abram Brundage, an early settler, a soldier in the French and Indian War, and in the British Army of the Revolution. He stood at the top of the rock down which Gen. Isaac (Israel?) Putnam made his famous ride, at the time the deed was done. . . .

This record of Abraham is of interest as it shows his family in close proximity of he Isham and Lockwood familys, both of whom have recorded inter-marrying with the Brundages in the 1700's & 1800's.

By 1840 there is no mention of Abraham in Williston. One interesting fact in the 1840 census is that Nathaniel's family is shown with a 70-79 year old female living with them, could this be Lois (Yale) Brundage, Abraham's wife?

The St. Lawrence Co. book states Abraham spent his last days in Williston, Vermont.

All 4 of Abraham's sons appear in the1840 census for Williston, Chittenden Co., Vermont, their names were; Joshua, Harry, William and Nathan.

A Clarissa Brundage married Carlton Barto at Hinesburg, Vermont on November 11, 1820. Perhaps she is Abraham's oldest daughter ?.

From the book "A Survey of the Ishams in England and America" There was an Elizabeth Brundage b. October, 1787 who married an Ebenezer Isham who lived in and raised children in St. George, Chittenden Co., Vermont in about 1813. From the same source we find a Mary Brundage married to Nathan Lockwood, this couple raised children in St. George, Chittenden Co., Vermont. One of their daughters was born October 20 , 1795.

Andreas Emmerick was an accomplished German Officer who was given authority to recruit men from the New York colony to serve under his command. (Hmm... this sounds familiar...).
This is very intriguing and may tie our Abraham to the loyalist Brundages who ended up in New Brunswick and Nova Scotia at the close of the Rev. War.

David appears in the 1830 and 1840 Vermont census as living in Hinesburgh, Chittenden Co.

The 1850 census finds David (68) and Polly (64) living in the home of his son Rufus C. Barto in Burlington, Chittenden Co., Vermont.
Both Rufus and David stated they were farmers.

The couple shows up later in the 1860 Michigan census (misspelled Barton). David, in the1860 census stated he was 78, a farmer, and his middle initial was W. The value of his land was $1,000 and personal property was $400. Polly stated she was 74 and was born in Connecticut.

David's grave is located in East Cooper Cemetery, Cooper, Kalamazoo Co., Michigan.
