  Samuel Nettleton was one of the men from Wetherfield who purchased thelands of Totoket (Bramf ord, Conn.) and began a settlement there the sameyear, 1644. It appears that three years lat er he bought for his wife apair of shoes which proved to be quite objectionable to the Govern or andother folks. This curious commentary on the times was set forth on thethe Colonial Reco rds of the general court.
