  Joseph was a doctor in the Elkton, Virginia area for 40 years. Kate Wolfe Harnsberger, Joseph' s niece recalled waking up a night at the sound of Joseph's horse and buggy as he would go out to treat medical emergencies. - Joseph fought with the CO. I. 10TH VA. VOL. INF. (Riverton Invincibles.) during the Civil War. Enlisted in Company I, 10th Infantry Regiment Virginia, as a Private, on 17 June 1861. Absent, sick on 22 July 1862 Returned on 15 October 1862 (Estimated day) Wounded on 27 November 1863 at Payne's Farm, VA POW on 12 May 1864 at Spotsylvania Court House, VA Confined on 18 May 1864 at Point Lookout, MD Confined on 02 August 1864 at Elmira, NY Exchanged on 15 March 1865 at James River, VA - The 1870 census shows: Joseph Wolf(e), 28, M, W, Physician, b.
