Notes
Capt. Edmund Cantwell was first recorded as being Captain of one of the four English ships that arrived in New York in 1644. In August of 1644 two of these ships were dispatched to the Dutch Settlement, New Amstel (New Castle) along the Deleware River. The estate of Gov. Alexander d'Hinoyossa was seized and given to Capt. Edmund Cantwell. This begins the legacy of his descendants in America.
