John Hooker, perhaps the same as the John Hooker, b. Nov. 13, 1726, the son of Joseph
Hooker, Jr. and Jeane / Jane Rankins. He was a housewright (house builder) and
lived near Sunderland bridge; He was a soldier under Capt. Ebenezer Alexander, in
the Cape Breton expedition, 1745, where he was "much burned with powder;" from the
effect of this he lay in the hospital at Boston from Oct., 1745 to Jan., 1746; he was
of Fall Town 1751, and sold much land there while in Deerfield. He married Mary, probably
daughter of John Scott of Sunderland, Franklin Co., MA.
John was of Falltown during the early years of his marriage, and was thereafter of
Montague and Deerfield. Montague, Deerfield, and Sunderland are all adjoining. He may have
removed to Windham Co., Vermont.
