  Hardesty's History of Wayne Co. WVa Arthur is listed under his son, Elisha K., as follows: "Arthur Hobbs was born in Russell County, Va. Sept 10, 1818 and wa s among the first to settle in what is now Stonewall District. He was a devote d member of the Methodist Episcopal Church (South) and took part in the organiz ation of the first Sabbath School in the district. He was a man of talent whic h he devoted to the cause of Christ, and he died in the triumphs of faith, Nov 29, 1878, mourned by the church and community."
