DEATH: Died "of camp distemper" as a Revolutionary War sol d ier.
Israel moved to Pound Ridge, Westchester, NY as proved b y a number of Stamford deeds, one of which: in 1760 a gro u p of Smiths and others with their wives, including Israe l L ockwood of Old Pound Ridge and "Susannah Lockwood, lat e Sus annah Smith, his wife" conveyed Stamford land. On 1 5 Feb 1 760 Israel was a member of the committee to act o n the buil ding of the meeting house at Pound Ridge. In 176 3 he was on a list of freeholders at P.R. His will, date d 3 Oct 1776, probated 16 Dec 1778 leaves to cousin (i.e. n ephew) Hezek iah Lockwood 1/2 his lands and to cousins Reub en, David and Nathan, sons of Capt Reuben Lockwood, the oth er half; leg acies to the daughters of Capt. Reuben, viz. , Lydia, Ann, S arah, Rebecca, Jerusha, Elizabeth; Jemima B riggs (prob niec e of wife, d of Hannah (Smith) Briggs); "t he wife of Gilber t Weed" (Abigail Hoyt, d of Elizabeth (Lo ckwood) Hoyt, Isra el's sister) and "the wife of Hezekiah L ockwood" (perhaps M ary Birdsall?). Israel Lockwood had n o issue.
