      The first appearance of Daniel in Stamford Town Meeting re c ords was on 10 Mar 1692/3, when he was appointed pounde r (t o impound strayed stock) for "ye south field." He cont inue d as pounder, being appointed in 1700 and 1702; was el ecte d fence viewer for the years 1707, 1710, 1714, 1723, 1 732, and 1734; on a committee to report dogs thought to kil l s heep in 1727; tithing man in 1734, grand juryman in 173 6. In that year he and son Edmund were both made pounders f or the south field. His son, Daniel, Jr., was appointed t o the school committee in 1737. Daniel's first recorded l a nd transaction was 27 Nov 1695.

      Daniel's will, made 3 Mar 1741/2, probated 4 Dec 1744, cal l s him "of Stamford," named wife Charity, sons Daniel, Jon at han and Edmund (the last named to receive "all land tha t ca me to me of Brother Edmund's Estate"); and daughters D ebora h Webb and Abigail Lockwood. The will was witnessed b y Nat haniel Wiatt, Joseph Webb, Jr. and Benjamin Bishop.
