- A bit of speculation is used here in regard to connecting our William C. Kelly to this Asa Kelly and Ruth Goodrich.
First: Asa and Ruth were married on January 9, 1814, in Belmont Co., Ohio. (The same state where William indicated he was born).
Second: Asa appears on the 1820 Posey, Franklin Co., Indiana census. (This is the same county where William Kelly and Mary Klinck were married in 1838).
Third: Asa and Ruth appear with 2 young sons on the 1820 census, and one young daughter.
Fourth: Asa and Ruth's neighbors were Goodrich families, (Nathan, Abner, William and George).
Fifth: William's first son was named David A. Kelly, David presumably for Mary's father David Klinck, and perhaps the A. stood for Asa or Abner (Ruth's presumed father).
Sixth: The 1863 Plat Map of Algonquin Township, McHenry Co., Illinois shows a Goodrich property owner directly accross from (North of) thw parcel owned by our William C. Kelly.
1820 census:
Posey, Franklin Co., Indiana
Asa Kelly
Males:
2, ages under 10 years
1, age 26 to 44 (Asa)
Females:
1, ages under 10 years
1, age 26 to 44 (Ruth)
1 Individual in the household is of foreign birth (perhaps Ireland?).
The 1822 Tax list for Posey, Franklin Co., Indiana shows both an Abner Goodrich (Ruth's presumed brother) and an Asa Kelly.
There was an Asa Kell(e)y recorded in New Jersey genealogical records as having been born January 6, 1788 and having died April 8, 1834.
