DEATHS
Taney Jones
Word has been received here of the death of Taney Jones, of near Washington, which occured last week. He was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. George F. Jones also of near Washington, and was known here where he had visited. He was a cousin of Mrs. Leroy Horine, near Frederick, who received word of his death, and was a nephew of the late Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Hargett, of this city. Two sons survive.
NOTE: Mrs. Samuel Hargett was Annie Kessler the sister to Howard Taney Jones' mother Ida Kessler, and Mrs. Leroy Horine was the daughter of Samuel and Annie Hargett.

Some accounts of the family state that this branch of the Jones family has ties to the family of Chief Justice Roger Brooke Taney, and to the Jones family of Ohio that produced 2 college football coaches T.A.D. Jones of Yale and Howard Jones of USC, both of whom played at Yale. TAD's brother Howard also coached at Ohio before Knute Rockne recommended him to USC. however proof of either claim remains elusive.
