-
John appears on the 1850 Census in Farmington, Jefferson Co., Wisconsin, (Roll 1000 Book 1, Page 101b), as a 94 year old, born in New York. He was living in the home of his daughter Clarissa Tracy, age 33, her husband Hiram, age 41, and their family. John's wife was not enumerated with them, having presumably died earlier.
Inidcated in the birth locations of their children is that the family moved from New York to Wisconsin between 1841 and 1844.
-
NOTE: Hiram Tracy and William Houghtailing lived next door to each other on the 1840 Lorrain, Jefferson Co., New York census. John appears in the same town 2 pages later, living next door to his son Peter Houghtailing. (recorded as Houghtail).
-
John apparently lived to the great age of 103, and died September 1, 1859.
