  Charles was located on the 1880 census living in Oregon Township, Butte Co., California. He stated he was a 52 year old teamster (wagon driver) who was born in New York as were his parents. With him are shown his wife Cleopatra (Woody) age 39 "keeping house", who was born in Georgia as were her parents, son Charles age 22 also a teamster, daughters Katy age 20 "at home" and Ella age 11 "at home", son Louis age 5 "at home", and youngest daughter Laura age 3 at home. The majority of Charles' neighbors list thier occupation as "miner", this is no surprise since this area near Oroville Ca. was a well know placer mining area at the time. At this time a positive connection between Charles and the known brothers Lewis and Henry is unproven and primary sources unchecked.
