  Ezekiel was born in 1636 and baptized at St. Nicholas Parish in Bristol on April 15, 1636. Ezekiel was apprenticed to Thomas Abree at the age of eight. He and his family lived in Amesbury and had eleven children. In some records he was later known as "Worthen". He married Hannah Martin, the step-daughter of Susanna Martin who was tried, convicted and hung as a witch in the Salem Witch Trials. He was in Salem in 1662, but removed to Amesbury, Massachusetts, about 1663. He received land in Amesbury that year and had a seat in the meeting house in 1667. He took the oath of allegiance at Amesbury in 1677, and signed the petition of 1680. He went from Salem with Samuel Foote. Both married daughters of men who became commoners at Amesbury. Ezekiel Worthen married, December 4, 1661, Hannah Martin, who died at the house of her son-in-law, Samuel Fowler, June 29, 1730. She was born Februar y 21, 1633-34, daughter of George Martin, of Salem and Amesbury, blacksmith, commoner, settling west of the Powow river as early as 1649, and an original commoner of Salisbury in 1654-55 . Ezekiel Worthen died in 1715 or 1716. His will was dated May 5, 1715, and proved August 6, 1716. ----- Conclusions: (1) Birth about 1636, s/o George WATHEN and Margery of Salem, MA. Name WATHEN or WATHIN in oldest record s. Age about 8 1/2 years on 27 Aug 1644 (b. Dec1635). Age 20 in Jun 1656 (b. 1636). (2) s/o George WATHEN/Margery HAYWARD. Called WORTHEN in later records. (3) Baptism: 15 Apr 1636, St. Nicholas, Bristol, England. (4) Marriage to Hannah MARTIN: 4 Dec 1661, Salisbury, MA. (5) Death: Will dated 5 May 1715, proved 6 Aug 1716. (2) 15 Jun 1716, Amesbury, MA. (6) 1644, Jun: Ezekiel WATHEN was put by the court to Thomas AVERY till the former should be of age. (7) 1644, 27 Aug: Inventory of the estate of widow Margery WATHEN, taken 20 Jul 1644, was presented. At the same court, Ezekiel WATHEN, aboy about 8 1/2 years, was committed to Thomas ABREE (AVERY) as an apprentice until he is 20 years old, if his master live so long. (8) The two Deacons of Salem (MA) were appointed executors. (9) The "master" of Ezekiel Wathen received one quarter of the real estate for him, indicating that George and Margaret Wathen had 4 children. (10) 1656, Jun: Discharged from his apprenticeship, being 20 years old. (11) Ezekiel WATHEN appointed administor of the estate of Thomas WATHEN(WATHIN), son of Edman WATHEN, who went with Robart GRAY in Capt. ..... and d. with Prince Rupert. William SARGENT of Gloucester, his "cousingerman," and being his father's sister's son, had been appointed administrator 28 Sep 1652, there being "none nearer of kin in this country." Deborah (WATHEN ) JOY, age 27, wife of Walter, "being alike related," deposed that she desired his appointment , 17 Sep 1652. (12) He administered the estate of his "kinsman" (cousin) Thomas WATHEN, late of Gloucester. (13) 1658, 30 Jun: The inventory of the estate of Thomas WATHEN of Gloucester was sworn by Ezekiel WATHEN, his kinsman. (14) 1662: Ezekiel WATHIN was of Salem, MA. (15) Resided in Amesbury.
