For the following offenses:
1st Obtaining goods under false pretenses from W. H. Whitney of Gouverneur.
2nd Betting on the Montreal boat race
3rd Failing to meet his engagement in regard to the note of G.W. Burt
4th Crime of lying.
The committee unaminously found him guilty on all the specifications. The committee reported that he ought to be expelled from the church - and on the same evening he was declared expelled by James A. Dickson, Pastor of the church.
As Mr. M.B. Collins was (illegible) from the class room he threatened to whip brother Burt.

Mrs. Laura Towne has returned from DeGrasse where she visited her aunt Mrs. Richard Van Sant who is 93 years old and "lively as a cricket".

Funeral to Be Held From Home of Her Son, Joseph VanSant, DeGrasse, Sunday at 2 P.M. With the burial in South Russell Cemetery.
Russell, December 27, (1935).---Mrs. Joanna Collins VanSant, Age (93), widow of Richard Van Sant, Civil War veteran, died Thurdsay at 9 a.m. at the home of her son, Joseph Van Sant at DeGrasse. Mrs. Van Sant had been confined to the bed for several weeks.
Funeral services will be held at the home Sunday at 2 p.m., Rev. Leonard Mathewson officiating. Burial will be at South Russell, cemetery.
Mrs. VanSant was born Dec. 3, 1842, and was united in marriage to Richard Van Sant Oct. 20, 1856, at Rome. They resided at Silver Hill, near South Russell, nearly all their married life.
Five children were born to them. Three of whom survive, Stephen of Russell, George of Edwards and Joseph of DeGrasse, with whom she had resided since her husband died in 1913. Besides the three sons she is survived by eleven grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and ten great-great-grandchildren.
