    Johannes was a "Master Shoemaker" and belonged to the Evangelical Reformed Church. He Came to America 7, October, 1751 with his wife and four children on the ship "Janet", Captain Jacob Hauswird. Left from Zwesbruecken, Germany. They stayed in Pennsylvania for almost two years then showed up in the Evangelical Reformed Church records in 1753 in Frederick County, Maryland. He showed up on the church records until 1789 and then nothing further. Frederick muster rolls circa 1757. Service with the Hessian Army. He fought Indians in Frederick, Maryland under a Captain Peter Butler. He did not collect what was owed him for his last 34 days of active duty until 1768. He owned land in Tasker's Chance, now Frederick, Maryland.

    Andreas was born 1746 and was baptized in Widen, Germany on 2 Oct 1746, sponsors were: Andreas LaHoy, the government manager compounds son, and Anna Maria, the widow of David Fitzinger. He came with his family in 1751 from Germany when he was 7 years old, and settled in Frederick Co., Maryland.

    Andreas purchased some of his father's land and some farm land on the edges of what is now called Jefferson, Maryland, 12 miles south of Frederick, Maryland.

    Andraes moved to Donegal Township in Westmoreland, Co., PA (which later became Fayette Co.) in 1796 deeding his house in Jefferson to his son Andrew. Until his death, Andreas occupied the land in PA, which he opened out and cultivated, and on which he raised his family.
    He also owned a lot in what is now Washington, DC. His son Jacob obtained that lot in Washington, DC by paying the back taxes that accumulated on it when Andrew died in 1809.

    KESLAR Mary, consort of Andrew Keslar, died 16 Dec 1840, aged 88y 9m 23d
    also younger graves of
    Eleanor,
    Martha and
    Jane Keslar among others.
    So Mary apparently was living with son George in Fayette after Andrew died.

    Jabob's father Andreas, owned a lot in what is now Washington, DC. Jacob obtained that lot in Washington, DC by paying the back taxes that accumulated on it when Andrew died in 1809.

    War of 1812:
    Jacob Kessler appeared on the muster rolls of Capt. John Brengle's company of volunteers, raised in 4 hours by marching through the streets of Frederick, August 25, 1814. This was the day after the battle of Blandensburg, when the news of that battle was received. Rev. David F. Schaeffer rode by the side of Capt. Brengle through Frederickstown, encouraging men to volunteer.
