    George Martin, of Salem and Amesbury. He came to New England in 1639. He was a blacksmith who settled west of the Powow river as early as 1649, and an original commoner of Salisbury in 1654-55. George served in King Philips War.

    At the age of 60 Abraham joined Capt. Greeley's company with 65 other minutemen of Nottingham West, New Hampshire and marched on Lexington during the crisis of April 1775.
    He later made the rank of Captain. Abraham was also a selectman, moderator of selectmen, delegate to the Provincial Congress at Exeter NH, and a representative to the NH Gen. Court in 1775 and 1776 when New Hampshire joined other colonies in declaring independence from Great Britain.

    Abraham and Elizabeth were childless and raised as their foster children, the children of his brother Samuel and Samuel's 1st. wife Esther after Esther's early death. Samuel moved to Swanzey with his new wife in About 1758. The will of Abraham Sr. shows this Abraham as a"Housewright" of Nottingham West, New Hampshire.

    He later went to Swanzey, Cheshire Co., New Hampshire on horseback with his family and only a pork barrel behind him. Samuel and Sarah built a large farm homestead in Swanzey, which was still in possession of the Page family in 1978 by Kendall and Lorraine Page, and the pork barrel is said to still exist in the cellar of one George Page, a great grandson of Samuel.

    In the Revolution, Samuel was a Lt. in Col. Read's NH Reg. and Swanzey Company. It is believed that he was at the Battle of Bunker Hill. Samuel lived into his 92nd. year. The will of Samuel's father Abraham, indicates that Samuel was a "Yeoman" or farmer of Nottingham West, New Hampshire (1753).

    Samuel was among several othe men selected to help construct a meeting house in abt. 1766 (History of Hudson, New Hampshire, Chapter XIV, "Nottingham West Families",P. 199).
