  Alonzo Rael de Aguilar was at Guadalupe Del Paso as early as 1683, when he married Josefa (Ana) Garcia de Noriega on October 24th. He was a native of the City of Lorcua in Murica, Spain. He took part in both Re-conquest Entradas of 1692 and 1693, his name appearing in many documents as secretary of Government and War, Lieutenant General, Alcaldeof Santa Fe and protector of the Indians. In 1697 he had been a mayordomoof La Conquistadora for Vargas. He died on April 10, 1735, and was buried in the Conquistadora chapel; his wife followed him on August 12 of the same year. ----- SOURCE: http://pages.prodigy.net/bluemountain1/bonmf5.htm RAEL de AGUILAR While conducting research in Lorca, Spain in November of 1999, many records pertaining to the Rael de Aguilar family of New Mexico were located in both ecclesiastical and civil archives. Copies of many of the ecclesiastical records can be viewed at the LDS Family History Center in Albuquerque. From church records found at la Iglesia de San Mateo in Lorca, we learn that Alonso Rael de Aguilar (ONMF: 263) who came to settle in New Mexico during the Vargas period, was baptized on 1 4 February 1661. In the marginwas written "Alonso Jayme" and we will soon learn why. Alonso h ad sixknown siblings baptized at San Mateo church, and two more at San Patriciochurch in Lorc a (see below). Alonso's parents were Joan [Juan] Osca andJuliana Rael de Aguilar. Also found at the church of San Mateo was a marriage record for Juan Oscaand Agustina Gomes , dated 24 June 1642. From this record of Juan's firstmarriage we discover that his parents w ere Jaime de Osca and María deFigueroa. Thus, it was for Jaime de Osca, Juan Osca's father, t hat Alonsowas given the second name "Jayme." Several civil documents located at the Archivo Municipal de Lorca revealthat Juan Osca was al so known as Juan Osca y Alzamora. A dote, or dowry,for Ysabel de Osca has been located date d 21 October 1678. This can befound in Notarias, Protocolo no. 438, fol. 105r - 106v. In thi s documentYsabel is named as the daughter of Juan de Osca y Alzamora and JulianaRael de Aguil ar. Richard Salazar found the testamento, or will, of Juliana Rael de Aguilarin Notarias, Protoco lo no. 593, fol. 105r - 106v. In this document dated24 April 1703 she names her parents as Ju an Rael de Aguilar and Ana Solery Riguelme. Her husband, Juan de Osca de Alzamora, was deceas ed by thistime. Interestingly, she stated that her son, "Don Alphonso de Osca Raelde Aguilar, " was a resident of Parral de Indias. A marriage record has yet to be located for Juan Osca and Juliana Rael deAguilar. Further res earch will be carried out in Spain in order tofurther clarify the ancestors of Juan and Julia na, parents of NewMexico's own Alonso Rael de Aguilar.
