- Arthur is described as having been a tall strong man who once bet a man a team of mules and a wagon that he could carry two kegs of nails, one in each hand, from one end of town to the other. He won the bet, the mules & the wagon.

Arthur was raised on a farm and when he married Rickie Schultz they settled on a farm about 1-1/2 miles west of Oto, Woodbury Co., Iowa.
The couple raised a family on the farm along with crops of corn, wheat and oats, they also had orchards of apples and cherries.

Arthur also worked as Town Marshal in Oto, Iowa from the 1920's to the 1950's. Arthur died in Oto, Iowa.

In 1910 Arthur was again living in West Fork Township (Whiting Town), Manona Co., Iowa, next door to his brother Alpha's family.

An column "News from Oto" from the May 1, 1913 Correctionville News stated "Frank Hall shot a wolf in his pasture a few days ago. Arthur Wise and some others who own hounds, caught one old wolf and seven young ones."

Arthur registered for the WWI draft on September 12, 1917.
At the time he stated he was living in Oto, Woodbury Co., Iowa and was married to Rickie. He was farming there, and he was described as tall with a medium build, dark hair and brown eyes.
He indicated his birthdate as September 25, 1881, and his current age as 36.
