  Charles registered for the WWI draft in Butte Co., California. He stated his birth date as 10 Sept. 1895. - The 1920 Census of Chico Township, Precinct 6, Butte Co., California shows Charles age 24, and his wife Rosa age 22, along with a son Jackie age 2 1/2. Charles indicated he was a truck driver. (ED. 8, P. 10A). - Charles, age 34, was living in Nelson, Butte Co., California in 1930. The census that year indicated that he was a farm laborer and was renting a home for $5 a month. He was married to Rosa, age 31 who was also born in California. Their son Charles Ackley Jr. was 7 months old at the time the census was taken. Apparently Rosa had been previously been married and her son Jackie Keeler, age 12, was living with them.
