Notes |
- In 1880 the Ogden, Weber Co., Utah census shows Harry with the family of Duane Hillshaw, a lawyer, as a 13 year old servant. He was not recorded with his parents. It is unknown why this arrangement took place.
-
Harry seems to have caught a case of "gold fever" during the Klondike gold strike of 1897.
Harry (shown as Henry) appears in the 1900 Skagway, Alaska census living with his wife Frankie. The census shows Harry as Henry, however the birth date / state and parent's birth states seem to confirm the assumption that this is our Harry or else he was a twin. The census states that Harry was a miner who previously had lived in Seattle, Washington and had been a construction worker. Frankie is shown as having been born in California and her parents were both born in New England, her bithdate is shown as January, 1859, making her 7 years Harry's senior.
-
More confirmation of this Harry (Henry) are the 1891, 1893 directory listings, found by Joan R. Fitch, showing a Henry Durett plasterer is shown in the Tacoma City Directory (Puyallup Co., Washington).
