  Joseph took Oath of Allegiance at Amesbury, Mass. in May 1680, and was one of the original settlers. From there they moved to Long Island, N.Y. Then in 1690 they moved to Burlington County, New Jersey, then to Bucks County, Pa. and settled in Falls Township. He was a weaver. - David W. Hoyt, The Old Families of Salisbury and Amesbury, 1897 p. 231 Joseph Large of Amesbury married Elizabeth ? in 1673. He took an oath of allegiance in Amesbury in Dec 1677 (p. 21); he was member of "training band in 1680 (p. 23); he was a soldier about 1689 (New Puritan p. 106) children: Joseph born Sep 4, 1673 four sons before 1685 Samuel born Aug 3, 1686 perhaps daughters Bucks County Church Records Vol 2, p. 20 Falls Meeting records following children of Joseph and Elizabeth Large Elizabeth b. 31, 1st mo, 1695 Henry b. 10, 8th mo, 1696 Jonathan 8, 6th mo, 1698 Meldrum, Abstracts of Bucks County Land Records 1684-1723, p. 82 refers to deed to Joseph Large dated 20, 9th mo, 1693. Falls MM also reports Large, Joseph & Elizabeth with ch: Elizabeth b. 1-31-1695, Henry b. 8-10-1697 and Jonathan b. 6-8-1699. Also, reported in this time John & sarah with ch: Rebecca b and d 1711, Lidia b. 1713, Elizabeth, b. 1714, Elizabeth b. 1715, Rebecca b. 1717, John b. 1718 and d. 1719, Sarah b. 1720 and d. 1723, William b. 1722, John b. 1724, Mary b. 1726 and Jane b. 1728. - Appears in deed from John Green, Thomas Green, Katherine Green, for 100 pounds, 200 acres lying in Buckingham County , Pennsylvania dated 12th day, 9th month, 1694. Appears on deed as a weaver, conveying to Phineas Pemberton for 72 pounds, 5 shilling, 100 acres dated June 9 1699. - Joseph and Henry Large were among the earliest settlers in Buckingham Twp, Bucks Co., PA. Joseph died previous to his daughter, Elizabeth Large's marriage, in 1714 as he is listed as the deceased father. Witnesses at Elizabeth's wedding included a Joseph, John, Jacob, Daniel and Sarah Large. It is not known what relationship all these family members had to each other. (C-257) Children I've listed for Joseph are all claimed to be the son of Joseph in Hinshaw. There are other unclaimed children that might belong to this Joseph or his relative, Henry Large.
