Notes - Leonard was an accomplished horse breeder and dealer.
He would travel to many places, including; Paris, France, London, England, and New Orleans to buy new stock to breed and trade.
He worked at the Maple Point stock farms and dealt with the Norman and Percheron breeds, among others.
He is writen about in various periodicals and trade journals, including; The Rice County Journal, The American Breeder, and Breeder's Gazette.
He was involved in the judging of fine horses, and his horses won several prizes at various fairs and other events.

Leonard's obituary was printed May 14, 1898.
