    • Thomas was born in England, came to New England and was baptized in 1612. He came to Boston in the ship Griffin about 1630. He accompanied Rev. Thomas Hooker to Conn. and settled near Hartford He died in June 1655 at Northampton

      Thomas served in the 1637 Pequot War and his children were given land for his service. He was a blacksmith.
      Note : Thomas descended from Albert deGredley, Baron of Manchester , who was present at the battle of Hastingsin Oct. 1066. His descendents were an illustriious line of English Baron, some of who served in early English wars.
      The present generations of Gridleys in America are descended from Peeteer deGredley, a rich uncle of Thomas deGredley. The name Gridley is of the English derivation of Dweller or near "Greda'ss" woods.
